Phosphor-converted white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have revolutionized modern illumination technology, while their infrared counterparts remain in the developmental stage. In this talk, the speaker will present transition metal ion-doped phosphors, which are pumped by blue LEDs or laser diodes (LDs), as promising infrared light sources, including near infrared (NIR) and short-wave infrared (SWIR). He will discuss the underlying physics and their potential applications in medicine, surveillance, and spectroscopy.
报告人简介🥘🦀：
Xiaojun Wang（王笑军）earned his BS degree in Physics from Jilin University, his MS from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Florida Institute of Technology, and his PhD from The University of Georgia, USA. He served as a Postdoctoral Associate at Oklahoma State University (1992–1993) and as an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Irvine (1993–1995). Since 1995, he has been a Professor of Physics at Georgia Southern University, USA. Dr. Wang is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, the Editor-in-Chief of Materials Research Bulletin (2025-), and an editor for Light: Science & Applications (2012-).
